danger

I could stand on a mountainside

and scream at the top

my lungs yet the words wouldn’t reach you.

Even if I were to set myself on fire,

you would be too distant to sense the

warmth emanating from my body.

I could cut my skin and you wouldn’t notice

the blood pouring out or offer to bandage me up.

It feels as though I am unseen until you briefly acknowledge my presence,

and then just as quickly, I disappear once more.

I've cried out to you in more ways than this,

yet nothing.

nothing.

It's strange, I would bring you down the mountain,

or cover you with my clothes to extinguish the flames,

and even stitch your skin back together,

but we are not the same, my love.

you will not try to save me because you're

too blind to know I'm in danger.
